Join CESDP for “Beyond the Ordinary Dual Credit Coursework: Cultural Studies for Historical Literacy and Affirmation” at the 6th annual EdUprising Conference in partnership with Future Focused Education!
In recent years, the Martinez/Yazzie case has underscored the state of New Mexico’s obligation to provide students with an education that is not only “sufficient” but also culturally and linguistically sustaining. When we think about how we ought to transform our state’s public education system to ensure it is meeting its obligations, a unique opportunity arises when we consider how school-university partnerships can affirm students’ multicultural and multilingual heritages through dual credit courses.
This February 27th, join the Center for the Education and Study of Diverse Populations (CESDP) for a dialogue at the 2026 EdUprising Conference on the rationale and potential for cultural studies dual credit courses in New Mexico’s high schools. Learn how a dual credit course intended to support historical literacy and affirm student identity was created in consultation/partnership with CESDP! Participants will be invited to ask questions and develop a preliminary next-steps plan to explore cultural studies dual credit opportunities in their own school districts.
